Count days between two dates
See exact days, weeks, hours and a visual calendar range.
Find the number of days between two calendar dates
Enter a start date and end date to count the span between them. DateTimeWise shows the counted days, whole weeks plus remaining days, total hours, total minutes and a calendar-style years-months-days difference.
The visual range makes long spans easier to inspect, while the endpoint controls let you state exactly whether the start date, end date, both dates or neither date should be counted.
If your goal is to exclude weekends or holidays, use the Business Days Calculator instead.
Inclusive and exclusive date counting
There is no single correct endpoint rule for every situation. A travel itinerary, event schedule or attendance period may count both dates, while an elapsed interval often counts the distance from one date to the other without counting both endpoints.
DateTimeWise exposes that choice instead of hiding it. With the default setting, the start date is included and the end date is excluded. You can change either checkbox before using the result.
Simple example
For March 1 to March 2, the calendar distance is one day. Counting both March 1 and March 2 produces two counted dates; excluding both endpoints produces zero counted dates between them.
What the result means
Days and weeks
The day total follows the endpoint options you selected. Whole weeks are calculated from that count, with any remaining days shown separately.
Hours and minutes
Each counted calendar day is converted to 24 hours and 1,440 minutes. These are calendar-day equivalents, not a timezone or daylight-saving-time measurement between timestamps.
Calendar difference
The years-months-days value answers a different question from the fixed day total. Months have different lengths, so a calendar difference such as “1 month” is not always equal to 30 days. For that style of answer as the main result, use the Date Difference Calculator.
Worked examples
| Question | Best setting | Why |
|---|---|---|
| How many calendar days until a deadline? | Usually include the start or end, not both | Measures the interval without double-counting endpoints |
| How many dates are in an event from Monday through Friday? | Include both | Counts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday |
| How many full dates lie strictly between two dates? | Exclude both | Counts only the dates inside the range |
| How many working days are in the range? | Use Business Days Calculator | Weekends and holidays require workday rules |
Days between dates FAQ
Does the calculator include the start date?
By default, yes. The start-date checkbox is enabled and the end-date checkbox is disabled. You can change both options.
Are weeks rounded?
No. The result shows whole weeks plus the remaining days.
What if the end date is before the start date?
The calculator measures the absolute calendar span, so you can enter the dates in either order.
Does daylight saving time change the day count?
No. This page compares calendar dates, not timezone-aware timestamps. For timestamp differences across time zones, use the Date & Time Difference Calculator.
Can I count only weekdays?
Use the Business Days Calculator when weekends, custom workweeks or holiday exclusions matter.
